Jason Aldean made headlines last month when pictures of him canoodling with former American Idol Season 11 contestant Brittany Kerr at a bar in L.A. surfaced in the tabloids.

The country superstar has since apologized to fans on his Facebook page. Now, he and wife Jessica Ussery are opening up about the scandal that threatened their 11-year marriage and his career.

Speaking to CBS This Morning, Jason and Jessica assured fans that their relationship is rock solid.

“We’ve been together for a long time and through a lot of things together,” said Jason to CBS News’s Manuel Bojorquez. “Those are things that most people get to deal with in private, but we didn’t have the luxury of doing that.”

The couple’s two daughters — 9-year-old Keeley and 5-year-old Kendyl — were also a huge factor in working things out.

“When there’s kids involved, that’s something you’ve always got to try and protect,” said Jason.

He added that couples who have been married for decades are bound to face one or two defining moments over the course of their relationship.
