American Idol alum and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson previewed part of her new album today via a live Ustream session with her fans. Snippets of five new songs were debuted, sung a capella by the singer.

Hudson’s album, tentatively titled I Remember Me, is still in the process of being recorded, though her collaboration with Alicia Keys, who wrote and produced several of the songs, seems to have wrapped. Hudson praised Keys to the skies, talking at length about how involved the colab was. The admiration seems mutual, as J-Hud recalls how Keys called her “an inspiration.”

Hudson was in Africa shooting her role for the upcoming film biopic Winnie, about former South-African First Lady, Winnie Mandela. J-Hude mentioned in the live chat that the role is the hardest thing she has attempted thus far in her career.

Hudson will also embark on a tour in support I Remember Me that will span spring and summer of this year. Can a guest spot on Idol be too much to ask of the pop star? We’ll see!
