Jennifer Hudson to Guest Star on Smash Season 2
Smash is fast becoming a mini American Idol reunion!
Oscar- and Grammy-winning Idol alum Jennifer Hudson has landed a gig to guest star on Smash for a multiple-episode arc this fall. Jennifer joins Idol Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee, one of the stars of the NBC musical drama.
“We’re thrilled to have Jennifer Hudson coming to Smash,” said NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt. “This series is a showcase for some of the best musical talent in the business and that’s a fitting description for Jennifer Hudson. Her character will represent someone who reached their Broadway dream but also paid a price for it.”
The Dreamgirls star will play a Broadway luminary named Veronica, who interacts with both of the show’s leads, Karen (McPhee) and Ivy (Megan Hilty).
Does this mean there’s a Jennifer Hudson/Katharine McPhee duet in the works? Because there very well better be!
Look for Jennifer to steal the show when she debuts in Smash’s Season 2 premiere.
