What a difference a few weeks can make. At the Top 13 Finalists Party, Idol hopeful Jermaine Jones was gushing about how happy he was to get a second chance on the show. Now, the deep-voiced crooner is out for good after being disqualified for hiding his criminal past.

When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Jermaine on the red carpet before the Top 13 party, he revealed that he thought he was “done for forever” after being sent home the first time. But then a couple of weeks later, he got a call saying that he could return to compete for a finalist spot.

“The first thing that’s going through my head is just 'I can't believe this. Somebody's pranking me,’” shared Jermaine. Of course, once it sank in, he was all for taking a second shot.

Earning a spot in the finals was an “emotional roller coaster.” Added the singer, “I can’t even explain it, because it was kind of like a surreal moment.”

Sadly, the ride’s over for Jermaine. We’ll see if anyone else is brought back for their own second chance tonight.
