Jordin Sparks Talks About Working With Idol Whitney Houston
American Idol alum Jordin Sparks recently wrapped filming the movie Sparkle with the late Whitney Houston. Whitney passed away February 11, 2012, allegedly from a fatal cocktail of prescription drugs and alcohol. In addition to costarring with Jordin, Whitney produced Sparkle, a remake of the 1976 musical by the same name.
Jordin, who has previously said how “utterly devastated” she is by Whitney’s death, is finding some solace in championing Whitney’s last motion picture project. Jordin tells Access Hollywood, “It gives me a lot of excitement to be able to put this movie out because it was her baby, and she was so, so into it and so happy to be doing it.” The film is slated for an August 2012 release.
Of the late singer’s passing, Jordin says, “It definitely makes me very emotional.” Working with the pop icon was a dream come true for the Idol winner. “I looked up to her and I sang her songs and then all of a sudden I was in a movie with her and I got to see her face-to-face, and she was so kind and she was so sweet.”
