The very first winner of Duets has been crowned, and coming out on top is (drum roll please…) J.Rome!

The singer — whose duet partner, Sugarland songstress Jennifer Nettles, hand-selected him for the competition — was the clear frontrunner throughout the season.

J.Rome beat out Jennifer’s other partner, John Glosson, and Kelly Clarkson’s pick Jason Farol for the top spot after serving up a rendition of DeBarge’s “Rhythm of the Night.”

As winner of the season, he walks away with a recording contract with Hollywood Records.
