Last we heard, American Idol producers were closing in on a deal to bring in country singer Keith Urban to the Season 12 judging table alongside Mariah Carey, but now a new report indicates the deal is done!

The Country Vibe News claims to have exclusive information on the matter, reporting that show execs definitely wanted to have a country singer on the judging panel of four for Season 12, and it came down to Keith Urban and Brad Paisley.

Reportedly, Brad Paisley was looking to nab a payday more in the range of what Nicki Minaj would make ($8.5 million or so), which is still quite less than what Mariah Carey will rake in for her turn as an Idol judge ($18 million). Keith, meanwhile, was reportedly willing to settle for the measly (ha!) sum of $3 million for the gig.

We’re still holding our breath for an official announcement, but if Keith Urban is indeed the next judge to join American Idol Season 12, what do you think of the selection? Tell us below!
