Lazaro Arbos has certainly has faced his share of challenges in his life. However, the American Idol 2013 Season 12 Top 20 contestant is now on the edge of glory and we couldn’t be happier for the bow tie-loving cutie!

Lazaro, who is 21, is an ice cream scooper from Florida. He developed a strong stutter at age six while growing up in Cuba, and the stutter only got worse after his family moved to the U.S. However, singing provides him with a break from his speech impediment, and so he started singing as a youngster. He began belting out songs at his church and even competed on a Miami competition show called Aqui Todos Ganan. Gotta love that wild white-and-gray shirt he was wearing on that show not to mention his powerful rendition of “Imagine.”

American Idol’s judges obviously felt for Lazaro’s moving story, but it was his singing voice that blew them all away. Lazaro auditioned with “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and Keith Urban told him it was so impressive that Lazaro should “sing all the time.” Talk about high praise! Now, Lazaro has progressed all the way to the Top 20 on the strength of performances like Lady Gaga's "Edge of Glory" and Keith Urban’s "Tonight I Wanna Cry.”

After making it into the Top 20, Lazaro said he felt “great” and that he loves everyone who is supporting him. Aww! Now he’s gonna make us wanna cry tonight.
