American Idol fans are eagerly awaiting the upcoming season, but one thing we’re also anticipating is just what will happen between diva judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on live television.
Access Hollywood recently asked the two judges about their much-talked about blowout back in October, and they certainly took different approaches in answering. Mariah avoided the question altogether, saying, “Christmas time is here again. Have you heard ‘All I Want For Christmas’? My song...I heard something really good about it today.” Clever girl! Apparently the good news she was referring to was that her song has been the top streamed holiday song of the season.
Nicki, on the other hand, took the high road and said, “We’re great. Thank you. We’re great.”
In the same interview, Nicki dished on the arduous schedule of the Idol judge and how much it surprised her.
“It’s your whole day,” she said. “You wake up at 8 in the morning, you gotta get glammed up, you gotta head here. We leave, maybe 11 o’clock at night, get home at midnight, do it again in the morning.”
The long hours spent with all of the Idol hopeful have gotten her emotionally invested as well. Nicki warns that viewers need to prepare themselves for high emotion this season
“Some of these stories this year are going to touch so many people,” she said, describing some contestants’ background stories as “really, really inspiring.”
Mariah added, “Sometimes, it’s like you see these kids, or these contestants and it’s like they have a great voice or a good voice, but they don’t have ‘that,’ so it’s a fine line, it’s a delicate balance and it’s interesting.”
Sounds like you’ll want to grab the popcorn plus a box of tissues for Season 12 of Idol!
