Amid news that Toby Keith and Brad Paisley have both been approached to join Season 12 of American Idol as judges (Toby turned them down, while Brad is reportedly still in talks), US Weekly reports that Idol is considering two other stars for the judging panel!

Insiders say that singer Nick Jonas and rapper/producer Pharrell Williams are both in negotiations to join the show.

Idol producers hope Nick — who made his career playing with siblings Joe and Kevin in the Jonas Brothers — will draw a younger viewership. He just finished a stint on broadway in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

“Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge,” said one source. “They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings.”

Pharrell is reportedly still working out contract details with the producers. He’s well known for his group N.E.R.D. and production work with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, and Gwen Stefani. He's even worked with Idol's newest judge, Mariah Carey.

One source also said longtime judge Randy Jackson will be moved into a mentoring role similar to that of Jimmy Iovine.

If these reports are true, we could have a full judging panel on our hands by the end of the week!
