One might suspect that with Nicki Minaj’s unabashedly out there antics, her turn as an American Idol judge will be a memorable one. But the outspoken rapper is already promising to tone down her diva behavior for the sake of the show.

Nicki explained to Access Hollywood, “I’m just trying to nullify my diva-ness right now. I just wanna not be a diva at all.”

That doesn’t mean there won’t be some laugh-worthy moments, though.

“[K]nowing me – there’ll be a slap somewhere in this season,” she teased. “It’s fun. People are gonna laugh and people are gonna have a lot of fun… we just laugh ultimately at everything.”

Nicki also put the kibosh on that rumored feud between herself and co-judge Mariah Carey, saying that while they both have very strong and distinct personalities, she has nothing but respect for the “We Belong Together” singer.

“Mariah’s a legend and I just want to say that… I’m sitting next to a woman who I’ve looked up to since I can remember enjoying music,” Nicki said.
