Nicki Minaj has only been with American Idol for a short time, but she knows how to create intrigue.
Following consistent arguments with resident diva, Mariah Carey, searing critiques of performers and an awkward Twitter feud with ousted contestant Devin Velez, Minaj's prospects about being asked back to Idol next year seemed murky at best.
But when approached by TMZ this weekend, producer Nigel Lythgoe said that Minaj "certainly will be" asked back to judge next season.
Which may seem strange, but the judges' panel has been lacking a dynamic critical voice ever since Simon Cowell left. Steven Tyler certainly was colorful and Jennifer Lopez was, uh, famous I guess? But Nicki is the first judge to be colorful, famous, and relevant in terms of her critiques.
Here's hoping she accepts the offer to return.
