As the brains behind American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, Nigel Lythgoe has built a formidable mini-empire of competition shows.

But with Opening Act, he’s looking to focus on finding and nurturing undiscovered acts. Premiering July 9 at at 10/9c on E!, the show will take virtual unknowns (found via the web) and send them through “performance boot camp” before they make their debut before thousands of people opening for artists like Jason Mraz, Nicki Minaj, ROd Stewart, LMFAO, Brad Paisley, and more.
