One thing's for sure these days -- it’s good to be Kelly Clarkson. The recently engaged singer not only hit it out of the park with her performance at President Obama’s inauguration, but she just earned her 80th No. 1 spot on the Billboard Charts with her current hit, “Catch My Breath.” This is her third consecutive No. 1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart, with “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and “Dark Side” preceding this catchy number.

As THR points out, this pushed the American Idol franchise to its 372nd Billboard chart-topper, which is in keeping with their current slogan, “Others dream, Idol delivers.” It all began with Kelly’s coronation song, “A Moment Like This,” which held on to the record as the show’s most successful coronation song until Phillip Phillips’ “Home” surpassed the inaugural hit.

“Home” took its seventh crown as it reached No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary chart in its 21st week. Proving its wide appeal, P2’s coronation song had already been No. 1 on Rock Digital Songs, Hot Digital Songs, Hot Digital Tracks, Triple A, Triple A Audience, and Adult Top 40. Jeesh!

While critics continue to focus on Idol’s slight dip in the ratings over the last few years, there’s no denying its star-making power.

Let’s say Kelly Clarkson and Phillip Phillips were performing in your town on the same night. Which concert would you choose? You can’t go wrong!
