Matchbox Twenty made American Idol fans very happy today with the news that Phillip Phillips would be joining their 2013 North American Tour. The band confirmed the good news today via their Facebook page, writing, “Hey Phillip Phillips - It's been really cool watching all your success this year & we're excited to have you come out on our NORTH America 2013 tour!”

P2 will join the ‘90s stalwarts for 21 shows from January 29 to February 27. Wondering if this killer lineup is coming to a venue near you? Check out Matchbox Twenty’s website for tour details.

Those who have followed the Season 11 champ’s’ incredible success since the show likely won’t be surprised by Phillip’s great news. Rob Thomas, Matchbox Twenty’s frontman, even praised the singer for his unique cover of their song “Disease” during the Top 3 performances, despite the lackluster feedback from the judges.

"Great job on 'Disease' the other night," Rob tweeted to Phillip on Friday, May 18. "Like what you did with that."

We have a feeling Phillip, Rob, and the rest of Matchbox Twenty will get along just swimmingly on tour!
