If you noticed Phillip Phillips looked a little red in the face while singing on this week’s American Idol shows, it might be because he’s playing through the pain. Back in March, Phillip went on stage despite having to seek medical treatment for kidney stones. According to what Colton Dixon told ABC News Radio, the contestant is “definitely hurting” but “he never lets you know about it.”

What a trooper! Even Phillip’s bromance buddy, Heejun Han, stopped joking around on Twitter for a minute to let fans know his friend isn’t feeling great. “Good night please pray for @pphillipsai11 all the joking aside he's going through lots of pain right now. YOU CAN DO IT BROTHER! AFGABG,” he tweeted.

Phillip will reportedly be undergoing surgery relating to complications with his liver before the American Idoll summer tour begins. TMZ is also reporting that his hometown doctor says Phillip needs surgery as soon as possible, although the AI finalist has chosen to wait to go under the knife until his Idol run has ended.
