He might be an American Idol, but Phillip Phillips isn't quite as popular as a certain Canadian. However, he's still pretty darned popular.
Newest American Idol champ Phillip Phillips had a big week, which was made even bigger when his song "Home" became a bonafide smash, selling 278,000 copies to land at Number 2 on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart. This means that "Home" has earned the second-best digital sales week for any Idol contestant, behind only Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You,” which debuted with a barely better 280,000 downloads in 2009. And that certainly does not suck for Phillip.
So who was the one artist who sold more digital singles this week than Phillip? That would be Canadian pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen, whose "Call Me Maybe" is still as popular as ever. By the way, before "Home" came into our lives, we missed it so bad, we missed it so so bad.
In related news, former American Idol winner Lee DeWyze was late today for his shift at Applebee's. (We kid, we kid. Lee DeWyze doesn't work at Applebee's — yet.)
