Congratulations are in order for American Idol Season 11 champ Phillip Phillips.  His first hit single, “Home,” has reached over 1 million downloads, making it his first platinum record!

About 212,000 digital copies of the song were sold last week, earning it the number two spot on Billboard’s Digital Songs Chart for the week. It also added to the 844,000 copies already sold to surpass one million downloads.

Phillip’s longtime girlfriend, Hannah Blackwell, made sure to congratulate her sweetheart and all those responsible for the mega hit on Twitter, writing “Congrats to Phillip, Greg Holden, Drew Pearson, and Interscope on ‘Home’ going platinum!”

The song just reached gold certification two and a half weeks ago. But after being featured as the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team anthem during the Olympics, it got a healthy sales boost which helped jettison it back to the top of the charts.

Phillip’s career is off to a great start!
