American Idol Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips had kidney surgery last week and was released on Sunday, June 10.

According to TMZ, Phillip was in worse condition than anyone thought before he had his more-than-six-hour surgery. The stent that was placed in his kidney was reportedly there way too long and became embedded in his body, so the surgeons had to (yikes!) cut the stent out with a laser.

TMZ said Phillip will be recovering in a Malibu mansion 'cause one of the Idol honchos is letting him crash at his pad. Not bad!

On Monday, Phil was well enough to sign autographs — and make goofy faces — in a photo for E! News.

"I'm out of the hospital and back to work!" Phillip told E! News. "Looking forward to the future."

His future is expected to include all 45 shows for the American Idols Live tour, which starts July 6 in Detroit. And his new song, "Home," has been doing pretty well. It debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart, selling 278,000 copies. That earned him the title of second-best digital sales week for any Idol contestant, behind Kelly Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck Without You.”

Our lives would suck without Phil. Stay strong, P2!
