You know things are serious when the President of the United States needs to weigh in on the matter!

During a chat with radio personality Michael Yo, President Barack Obama was asked if he could “repair the relationship” between American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, whose explosive feud hit the media earlier this month.

President Obama responded hopefully, saying, “I think that they are going to be able to sort it out; I am confident. I am all about bringing people together.”

He added, “I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure they’re moving forward and not going backward.”

When asked which diva he favored more, the President explained that he’s gotten to know Mariah and her husband, Nick Cannon, through various events. “She’s a wonderful lady,” he said. As for Mariah’s alleged nemesis, he said, “Nicki I don’t know, but I’ve got her on my iPod.”

Way to be diplomatic, President Obama!
