UPDATE: In an official statement released today, Stevie Nicks apologized for her alarming comments about Nicki Minaj.

"It was very out of character for me and I deeply regret what I said," the Fleetwood Mac singer said, noting that she had been through an exhausting day of interviews when the comments were made. "I feel very protective toward Mariah Carey, who has gone through many difficulties in her life and I spoke without thinking. I think all artist[s] should be respectful toward one another and that includes me. I am truly sorry.” (Source: CNN)

While Mariah Carey has kept mostly mum on the subject of Nicki Minaj, even after the rapper threw a cursing fit on the set of American Idol last week, at least one songstress said she would’ve gotten physically worked up over the situation.

Stevie Nicks weighed in on the heated feud, telling The Daily, “How dare this little girl! … If I had been Mariah I would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death right there.”

The Fleetwood Mac singer, who was promoting her documentary In Your Dreams in New York, added, “I would have killed her in front of all those people and had to go to jail for it.”

It’s a good thing MC has more restraint! Stevie also mentioned that she won’t be back this year to coach the Idol contestants.
