The idea of country music sensation Brad Paisley joining the American Idol Season 12 judging line-up has been pretty well-received, but it’s clear that it’s going to be tough for Brad to fit Idol into his busy schedule.

While it’s still just a rumor that Brad may be joining the judging panel, another country star is speaking out about turning down the Idol gig. The Idol team reportedly reached out to another country star, Toby Keith, about the potential for him to take Steven Tyler’s old judging chair for the new season. Toby, however, isn’t interested.

The outspoken singer told the Inland Empire Weekly (via Examiner) that he turned down an offer made in early July to judge the show alongside new addition Mariah Carey because of its rigorous schedule demands, time he’d rather spend touring and working on music.

Having a country musician on the roster for Idol could be the kind of “creative reinvigoration” the program’s in need of, especially considering the success of Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery and the number of contestants who lean toward the popular genre.

And back to the drawing board we go!
