Travis Orlando, the sweet boy with a beautiful voice and a heart wrenching story about living in a homeless shelter, was sent home by the judges during American Idol Season 11, Hollywood Week: Round 1. Idol’s executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, was vocal about his disappointment with the decision.
Immediately after the elimination aired, Nigel tweeted, “I so disagreed with the judges letting Travis go. It was so upsetting.” Nigel is apparently experiencing a great deal of heartbreak at the hands of the judges; he recently confessed his favorite contestant gets sent home in Vegas.
Season 11 was Travis’ second attempt at impressing the judges; he previously auditioned for Season 10. For his 2012 audition, Travis sung “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder.
