Candice Glover had her moment — you know the moment — a few weeks back when she took on Adele’s “Lovesong,” which was originally done and written by The Cure. Many of us had likely seen her as more of a dated jazz singer before this, but this powerhouse vocalist proved to us she could release an album tomorrow that would sound current.
Last week, however, the former front-runner came across a bit sleepy with her performances. Her first song choice was interesting, as she took on “Find Your Love” by Drake, but it came off sounding similar to many of her other performances. Even Randy Jackson, who has been a huge fan of Candice’s since the beginning, said that, while her vocals were “crazy good,” “every phrase doesn’t need a run.”
Nicki Minaj also wished Candice would have stuck with the melody more. Her second performance of “Emotion” was a snoozer, and the judges focused more on the fact that she had a cold than anything else.
If we know Candice, she set out to redeem herself this week so, despite being in the bottom two last week, you can never count this amazing vocalist out.
