As the inaugural anthem of American Idol Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips, “Home" has been growing in popularity – and not just because he’s performed it on nearly every stage and talk show known to man, either.
The platinum-certified single has been utilized in three major ways!
Sports: “Home” first hit the big time this summer when it was chosen as the U.S. Women’s Gymnastics “Fab Five” team’s unofficial anthem. Phillip said of the news, “It’s an honor for them to use that song, and I’m so proud of it and how well it has done.” Thanks to the Olympics connection, sales for the hit single skyrocketed, and P2 found himself on top of the iTunes chart!
Movies: Phillip told Ryan Seacrest in August that “[i]t would be pretty weird going to see a movie and then my song comes on.” It didn’t take long for the possibility to become a reality, because later that month “Home” was used in the first trailer for Clint Eastwood’s film Trouble With the Curve.
Commercials: Most recently, “Home” found itself nestled into the background of an insurance commercial for American Family Insurance (in instrumental form). What can we say? The song’s got a cozy feeling that works with the theme of the ad!
Where do you think “Home” will pop up next?
