While we made already made our first (and very early) prediction as to who is going to win American Idol 2013, the numbers on YouTube don’t lie. So we could end up being totally off the mark in the end if YouTube vides are any indication of who will win American Idol this year.

If you go strictly by digits on the most number of views on YouTube, the winner this season could very well be stuttering contestant Lazaro Arbos. With his initial audition of “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” garnering over 1.8 million views, there’s no denying the Cuban-born singer and ice cream scooper piqued the interest of viewers everywhere.

For years, there’s been an intense debate in American Idol chat rooms as to whether the show should focus on the emotional backstories or simply let the hopefuls be judged based on singing alone. When looking at the case of Lazaro, it seems clear that the show’s fans dig a compelling life tale. Lazaro has suffered from a debilitating stutter since he was six years old but, amazingly, the stutter disappears when he sings. As Keith Urban put it, “You should just sing all the time.”

Lazaro will get plenty of chances to widen his already massive appeal, apparently, as he’s shown up on our American Idol 2013 spoilers list as part of the Top 20 males. And, if his YouTube numbers are any indication, we could see him go far into the live shows, too.
