Our prediction for who got voted off American Idol tonight revolved around one basic question — would the judges use their power to save someone this evening or not? We theorized if country singer Janelle Arthur came in last place in the votes, the answer could very possibly be no. If it was Whitney Houston-light Amber Holcomb, however, we were fairly certain it would be a resounding and unanimous yes.

No matter who was voted off American Idol tonight, the decision of whether or not they would actually go home was ultimately up to the judges.

Before the American Idol results show on Thursday night, our readers here at Wetpaint predicted, along with us, that Janelle Arthur would get the least number of votes. Amber Holcomb was not very far behind in our poll, however, and she was ranked either last or second to last on most fan polls we saw out there after the Top 5 performances last night.

Unlike last week, when the person who should go home was as clear as the distress in the American Idol judges’ faces whenever Lazaro Arbos started singing, this round is a tougher choice.

While we think Janelle really is the weakest girl left in the competition, there is something just so endearingly charming about her. She also represents old school country singing in a way that we haven’t seen a girl do in too many years to count. Amber, however, is clearly the superior singer and the judges absolutely love her. She is an amazing vocalist and performer — yet we just can’t seem to connect with her. The voters haven’t had strong support for her either this season.

So who was eliminated on American Idol tonight from the Season 12 Top 5? If anyone? American dialed and texted in their votes, the judges made their final decision, and the results are...

After a nationwide vote, the bottom two finalists this week were Kree Harrison and Janelle Arthur, as we predicted. The girl with the lowest number of votes was: Janelle Arthur. She sang for her life in hopes of securing the save from the American Idol judges, but they decided not to rescue her from elimination in a two to two split vote.

Janelle Arthur was eliminated.
