We caught a quick glimpse of Top 40 hopeful Brandy Hotard during the Baton Rouge auditions, but as we head into Hollywood Week you might be asking yourself, “Just who is this Port Allen, Louisiana native?”
The beautiful Country singer/pageant girl sat down for her Road to Hollywood interview with americanidol.com, during which she said she’s auditioned for the show twice before. She’s hoping the third time’s a charm and, having made it into the Top 20 girls, she’s already shown she has honed her singing ability.
When asked by who inspired her, Brandy said she grew up listening to Country music, and absolutely adored Reba McEntire. As for Idol alum inspiration, she names Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. The singer said she thinks she embodies both of their styles, with a little bit of “gritty” Janis Joplin mixed in, to boot.
Brandy says her outlook on winning the show is positive, saying “I’m homegrown.” She goes on to say that she transforms into something totally different when she’s on stage. It’s got to be a lot different than her day job as a Psych Nurse. Between Brandy auditioning in Baton Rouge and “The Singing Doctor,” Calvin Peters, they had the hopefuls covered in case of a medical emergency! Unlike Brandy, however, Calvin didn’t show up on our spoiler list as part of the Top 40.
