While country music seems to reign supreme on American Idol 2013 this season, gospel has been prevalent as well. We’ve seen several wonderful soul singers on the show so far, and in the San Antonio auditions, another strong favorite with a faith background emerged.

Cristabel Clack is a worship leader, mother, and wife who said said her husband has been her #1 supporter, which is oh-so-sweet. He had to have been proud of his wife during her audition  as she oozed the confidence of a crafty veteran.

Cristabel’s rendition of Alicia Keys’ “If I Ain’t Got You” seemed to stun the judges. In fact, the normally reserved Mariah Carey gushed, “It’s obvious you’re a real singer,” going on to say, “I know you. I get you. I love you.” Now that’s high praise to be sure!

Thankfully we got to enjoy more of Cristabel when she made it through to the Top 20 girls. Sadly, that was as far as she got as she was eliminated during the Vegas rounds.

Check out Cristabel’s amazing performances below. What did you think -- did the judges make the wrong decision in sending her home?
