While making it to Hollywood Week on American Idol certainly doesn’t make Curtis Finch Jr. a seasoned veteran, it gives a person a chance to head back to the drawing board and use the hopefully sage advice the judges passed along. Curtis has been learning a lot of lessons in his life, including the harsh one about not breaking one of the ten commandments by reportedly stealing a laptop from a fellow church member.
It seems that may be just what Curtis Finch, Jr., or “CJ” may have done. He was interviewed by Americanidol.com for his “Road to Hollywood” interview last year after snagging that coveted golden ticket, and was also named on the Season 12 spoiler list as part of the Top 20 men.
On his online artist page, CJ is referred to as a “very accomplished and spirited Gospel and Classical singer,” which may bring last season’s Joshua Ledet to mind. The page also said that he’s worked with such Gospel greats as Dottie Peoples, Donnie McClurkin, and Vanessa Bell-Armstrong.
In his Americanidol.com interview last year, the St. Louis native said his inspiration for auditioning was Fantasia, as her stint on the show was her “last chance” to make it in the music industry, and she worked so hard to win it all. As he put it, after seeing that, “it was nothing for me to come and at least try.”
CJ also said he thinks he has the well-rounded personality that the viewers like to see on American Idol. Check out his performances from the show so far below. Do you think his voice will win it all?
