Do you love “eating good in the neighborhood?” Then perhaps you’ve seen American Idol Season 12 hopeful Devin Velez. When he’s not working at his local Applebee’s in Chicago, the 18-year-old is singing for anyone who will listen.

This year’s American Idol judges took note of Devin during Hollywood Week, sending him through to compete against the rest of the Top 40 in Las Vegas and then on to the Top 20 and the Top 10. His bilingual Spanish/English songs in particular were a huge hit, leading one judge to speculate on his international superstar potential.

Devin supposedly secured his “Dream Ticket” at the American Idol Experience at the Disney Hollywood Studios, and subsequently auditioned this past summer. He refers to himself as a “Singer/Songwriter” on his Twitter page. Although we’ve been predicting this is the year a girl will be the winner, this guy definitely had talent.

Sadly for Devin, he was eliminated on the Top 7 results show of American Idol 2013, coming in 8th place.
