American Idol Season 11 contestant Imani Handy is the second girl to faint during Season 11’s grueling Hollywood Week, following last week’s terrifying fall by Symone Black. Judge Jennifer Lopez, speaking with Jay Leno, says Imani had actually fainted twice that fateful day during Hollywood Week. “It was brutal,” J.Lo explains. “They were just tired, the pressure, something.”

“I think she had fainted once already, earlier, if I remember correctly,” J.Lo says. “She came out and we were kinda hoping she could hold it together.” In the preview, all three judges look shocked by the fall, which happens right in front of fellow contestant Johnny Keyser.

Imani Handy is just 17 years old, and auditioned for Season 11 in Galveston, Texas, nearby her hometown of McKinney, Texas. Imani is a student at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, according to her Facebook page. In her Road to Hollywood interview, Imani explains her tumultuous audition: “I had to redeem myself because I forgot the lyrics to my song, and that was tragic, but then I changed my song.”

As for why she should be the next American Idol, Imani says, “I’m really quirky and charistmatic and a really diverse person.” Her favorite former contestant? Adam Lambert, who Imani calls “legendary,” because “he incorporated theater.”
