When 6’8 (and a half!) Jermaine Jones walked into the American Idol 2012 Portland auditions, we’d already heard about his touching story. His mother was certain he would have no trouble making it to Hollywood Week. When the gentle giant unloaded some Luther Vandross on the judges, they definitely wanted to hear more from him. He earned a Golden Ticket with ease and only a few tears.

Jermaine has performed from a young age, starting with Gloucester County Children’s Choir. Not only is he a singer, Jermaine won awards for basketball in high school. He performs all kinds of genres, including  jazz, folk, opera, classical, R&B, neo-soul, gospel, and hip hop.

In a major Season 11 shocker, Jermaine was called back to sing for a second chance at making it to the final round. Jermaine sang "Dance With My Father" for his semifinals number and ended up making it into the Top 13. For his Top 13 number, Jermaine chose Stevie Wonder's “Knocks Me Off My Feet.”

On March 14, TMZ reported that Jermaine would be booted from the show for a criminal past. In a tweet that has since been deleted, Jermaine wrote, “Awww I will no longer b on the show.”
