Symone Zaire Black is just 16 years old, and in Round 1 of Hollywood Week for American Idol Season 11, the grueling grind of the talent competition catches up with the youngin’. Symone is now known famously as the girl who fainted and promptly fell off the stage at the very end of the show while attempting to finish her cover of Otis Redding’s “[Sittin’ On] The Dock of the Bay.” Who is this sweet (and obviously exhausted) girl?
Symone auditioned in San Diego and hails from Rancho Cucamonga, California. She was inspired by her now-deceased grandfather to audition for Idol, and vividly remembers the first time she ever sang for an audience: It was for her father, and she was so shy to sing in front of him, that she hid in the closet and sung from there. Her favorite Idol contestant? Season 10’s Haley Reinhart. Awww!
