Only seven contestants remain on American Idol 2013, which begs the question: Who from the Season 12 Top 7 should go home?

After tonight’s performances, it’s a tough call! The contestants took on a selection of rock songs and were forced to leave the slow-tempo tunes behind.

Burnell Taylor arguably gave one of the night’s weakest performances, singing Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name.” It was a very different choice for the soulful singer, and while he made a great effort, the judges observed that he seemed uncomfortable throughout the performance. But he later redeemed himself while singing a duet with Candice Glover of The Box Tops’ “The Letter.”

As expected, Kree Harrison slipped easily into rock mode with her effortless take on Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart.” Similarly, Janelle Arthur confidently tackled her version of Billy Joel’s “You May Be Right,” giving it a light country touch.

Lazaro Arbos seemed to redeem himself again with the judges after singing Queen’s “We Are the Champions,” which complemented his vocal range. Candice Glover performed a raucous version of The Rolling Stones’s “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” while Amber Holcomb impressed the judges with her take on Heart’s “What About Love,” eliciting a standing ovation for her performance. Angie Miller found herself back at the piano at the beginning of Evanescence’s “Bring Me to Life,” and later moved to center stage to finish out the song.
