Tonight, viewers will decide who to send home from the American Idol 2013. But who do you think should go home after tonight’s performances?
The contestants took on song from the Motor City and gave viewers a taste of some Motown classics with a modern spin. Everyone turned in strong performances, with an exception or two.
Shockingly, Angie Miller delivered the night’s weakest performance with her take on Smokey Robinson & the Miracles’ “Shop Around.” Randy Jackson called out the pitchiness in her voice, while the other judges didn’t seem to like her song choice. Angie said she just wanted to try something new, but that if she’s around next week she won’t let the judges down.
But there were plenty of standouts throughout the evening. Candice Glover kicked off the evening with a fantastic version of Marvin Gaye’s “Heard It Through the Grapevine,” which the judges loved for its slow and jazzy arrangement. Keith Urban even said she raised the bar for the competition, saying it was her best performance so far. But the judges saved most of their raves for Amber Holcomb, who sang Stevie Wonder’s “Lately” and received a standing ovation.
The guys also fared well, with Lazaro Arbos bouncing back from last week’s criticism’s with his version of Stevie Wonder’s “For Once in My Life.” Burnell Taylor and Devin Velez also impressed the judges with their respective songs, getting hardly any criticism from the judges.
