Who will American Idol 2013 based on what we saw during the Hollywood Rounds and which contestants ended up in the Season 12 Top 40?
This is a tough one to choose after watching this week on American Idol. While the girls were primarily a hot mess during the group performances, they hit that solo round and made history with some incredible performances.
Zoanette Johnson made up a song on the fly based on a beat in her head. Kree Harrison moved us to tears with the story of her parents’ passing and then an incredibly moving rendition of “Stars.”Candice Glover knocked it out of the park with Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire.” And Janelle Arthur continues to be the apple of the judges’ eyes with her continually incredible country performances. But we are going to stick with our prediction from last week, and go with...drumroll, please...
Angela Miller -- We thought our prediction might change from week to week, but we’ve had our eye on her from the start. So right now we're still loving Angela as our girl to beat this season. While Nicki Minaj said, “I don’t think you were in our brains” until this last performance, we had a feeling this girl had the stuff. Even more impressive, she suffers from hearing loss in both ears!
While the judges always claim they’re impressed by original numbers, there is no doubt they are also a risky move, especially when it comes time for people to vote. Viewers tend to like to be able to sing along with the contestants. So when Angela announced that she was going to perform an original number on American Idol last night, we were a bit concerned.
We shouldn't have worried! When she opened her mouth to sing...O M G. Sorry, that is what “OMG” is meant for. The song, “You Set Me Free,” could make serious coin on iTunes if it were on there today (oh, how much we wish it were). As Keith Urban said, “If that was recorded right there, I’d play it in my car.”
Yep, we’re sticking with our last week’s prediction that Angela is going to take it all. Who do you think will win American Idol season 12?
