As faithful fans of American Idol know, the initial front runners during the Hollywood and Las Vegas rounds rarely end up winning. The high expectations and long season can wear on these singers, and then dark horses often pick up steam. That’s what makes this show exciting.

From the beginning, we’ve predicted that Angie Miller would take it all. Between her amazingly strong following on the social media sites and her steady stream of stellar performances, we may still be correct in that prediction. However, we are shifting gears after the last few performance shows. Our new pick for the winner of American Idol 2013 is Kree Harrison.

We. Love. Kree. Many have predicted that a country star would win it all this year, and with three country hopefuls still in it, there’s a strong possibility this could happen. While the spotlight was initially on country sweetheart Janelle Arthur, the focus has subtly shifted to Kree. While the American Idol judges love Janelle’s old-school country twang, Kree has more crossover appeal. And–let’s face it–the girl is mad talented.

When it comes down to it, success of the hopefuls on the past 12 seasons of American Idol has really come down to song choice. And, as music producer and Idol mentor extraordinaire Jimmy Iovine pointed out on last night’s Top 10 results show, Kree has a knack for choosing songs that suit her voice. And, as he said, that is the hardest task for most of these singers.

We also know she wrote an amazing song in honor of her deceased parents, so we may still be in for an original song performed on the show by the beautiful singer. She could still have her Angie moment. When it comes to Kree, we think the best is yet to come.
