American Idol 2013 contestant Elijah Liu turned on the charm during the Top 10 guys semi-finals, where he performed Rihanna's "Stay" to the pleasant surprise of the judges. He wowed everyone with his vocal control and charisma. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for him to stay in the game, and voters did not choose to send him through to the Season 12 Top 10.

The young singer plays the guitar and could’ve been Idol’s first AGWG (Asian Guy With Guitar). The Rowland Heights, California, native charmed the audience and judges with his confidence, priding himself on being able to play to the crowd. “It’s about the connection with your audience,” he said in his Hollywood Week interview. That’s pretty impressive for someone who admits he’s only been singing for a year and a half!

This was the 18-year-old’s second time auditioning for American Idol, his first time being last year during Season 11. Let’s hope his experience this year doesn’t stop him from coming back next year. Considering he’s made it further and further each time he’s auditioned, we don’t see why he wouldn’t return for Season 13!

Are you disappointed that Elijah didn’t make it through, or was his elimination a surprise to you?
