Timothy Poe is now a goner from America’s Got Talent, but not for the reason you might think.

Timothy was a fast fan favorite on AGT after he presented himself as a former soldier-turned-country singer who’d been injured in the line of duty in Afghanistan. When his claims of said battle wounds couldn’t be authenticated, though, fans quickly lost favor for Timothy.

Now, he’s out of the picture, but his elimination has nothing to do with his reportedly false claims.

According to E! Online, Timothy gets the boot on tonight’s new elimination episode of America’s Got Talent, crushing his hopes of joining the Top 48, but it was his performance of George Strait’s “The Chair” which got him the axe and not his controversial claims.

Tonight’s episode was filmed last month, long before any doubts of his claim of a war injury came to light, and his elimination “was strictly based on his performance,” says E!
