After three days of deliberation, jurors in the murder trial of William Balfour, who was accused of murdering three of Jennifer Hudson’s family members, have handed in a verdict of guilty on all counts charged, according to ABC News.

Balfour, 30, has now been convicted of three counts of first-degree murder for the slaying of Hudson’s mother (Darnell Hudson, 57), brother (Jason Hudson, 29), and nephew (Julian King, 7) and faces life imprisonment.

He was accused of shooting all three victims in Chicago, Illinois, after he reportedly erupted into a fit of jealous rage on October 24, 2008, believing his estranged wife Julia Hudson (sister to Jennifer) to be romantically involved with another man.

William pled not guilty to all charges brought against him, and his 11-day trial, which began on April 23, ended this Wednesday after Hudson and 82 other witnesses testified for the prosecution and only two witnesses were called for the defense. Those two were detectives, whose testimony Balfour’s defense hoped would prove a mishandling of the murder investigation on the part of the police and bolster their claims that there was not sufficient evidence to convict him of the crimes.

While DNA evidence was argued to be inconclusive by the defense, other pieces of evidence, including cell phone records and gun residue which linked Balfour to the scene of the crime, were enough for the jury to hand in its verdict.
