There have been many, many prominent stars who were born on the stages of American Idol over the years. And of those stars, perhaps the most unlikely one to have a stalker would seem to be Clay Aiken. But after recent events, that would be an incorrect assessment.
A woman hailing from the state of Washington traveled all the way down to Raleigh, North Carolina for the sole purpose of trying to meet former American Idol star Clay Aiken. Unfortunately for her, it didn't go very well.
According to KOMO News, "Barbara Jean Saylor, 57, of Kirkland, Wash., was charged with trespassing and misdemeanor stalking," the Chatham County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Thursday.
A call was made from Aiken's home where deputies were informed that Saylor had climbed up a security fence and made it onto Clay's property.
Once she was discovered peering through the windows of the former Idol star's home, she was ordered to leave and did so after she was informed that the local law enforcement had been notified.
Saylor was booked and released on a $5,000 unsecured bond and given a court appearance date, so at least she didn't go all the way to North Carolina for nothing.
Clay became a national name in 2003 when he finished 2nd to Ruben Studdard on American Idol. Since then, he's released several albums and appeared on Broadway.
