Yesterday, pop starlets Britney Spears and Demi Lovato were confirmed as two of next year’s celebrity judges for The X Factor. But according to American Idol boss Nigel Lythgoe, the two singers never crossed his mind for Idol’s own judging line-up.
Why? Nigel told E!Online that he’d never thought of Britney or Demi because he tends to look for “mentors who have a lot more experience” in the music biz to judge the contestants on his show.
While he did give Brit and Demi props for their “personal experience” and admitted it’ll be “interesting” to see what the two do at X Factor’s judging table, Nigel himself said he would go for someone more familiar “the whole gamut” of what the contestants are in for with the show.
He may have to do just that soon enough.
Idol is facing some “creative reinvigoration” by Fox, which may or may not include switching out some of its current trio of arbitrators — Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson.
