American Idol 2013: Season 12 Top 40 Contestants! (PHOTOS)

Some of the selections for the American Idol Season 12 Top 40 make perfect sense to us. For example, how could you not choose Angela Miller after her stunning Hollywood Week performances, especially her solo from Thursday night?

Country sweethearts Janelle Arthur and Rachel Hale are also obvious choices. As are soulful Curtis Finch, Jr., the uber-talented Nick Boddington and powerhouse Vincent “Vince” Powell. 

On the other hand, we wonder a bit about some of the selections the American Idol 2013 judges made for the Top 40.

While Gurpreet Singh Sarin is a character, and certainly entertaining, he just doesn’t seem to have the amazing vocals and “it” factor an American Idol winner should possess Breanna Steer has given good performances, but no really great ones... yet. And as for quirky Charlie Askew, there is no denying he is adorable and a blast to watch, but even if his voice is stellar... is he just too different for Idol voters to love?
