Name: Paul Jolley
American Idol 2013 contestant Paul Jolley is this season’s hot male country singer candidate. This Palmersville, TN native has already taken the leap to move to Nashville, and now he’s just waiting for his big break to take the country music scene by storm.
Paul has already opened for a number of country stars, including Tammy Cochran, Roy Clark, and Chely Wright. He has also managed to win an amazing amount of talent contests over the years — over 100! Maybe the American Idol 2013 crown will be his biggest win?
Of all the guys in the American Idol Season 12 Top 20 this year, Paul Jolley is probably the most stereotypical fit for the classic WGWG (white guy with guitar) winner scenario. After years and years of WGWG winners, however, that could actually backfire. The voters this season may be looking for something different this time around. On the other hand, Paul is a country singer and that could be just different enough to get him to the finale.
So far on American Idol 2013, Paul Jolley has a bit of a mixed track record when it comes to his performances. In his first outing in front of the judges during auditions, he impressed the whole panel with his voice and his cheery attitude. It may sound cheesy, but Paul Jolley was indeed very jolly and smiling the whole time. His good looks, nice voice and white teeth bought him an easy ticket through to Hollywood.
However, Paul’s audition round performance has so far been the highlight of his time on American Idol season 12. He was largely missing during Hollywood Week for the guys, so we aren’t quite sure what happened with him there. His Las Vegas round performance received heavy criticism from the judges, despite their decision to send him on to the Top 20.
