More on Tenna...
American Idol 2013 hopeful Tenna Torres will live in infamy as the person who made Mariah Carey cry at her initial audition. It’s no surprise, as the Jamaica Queens, New York native honed her vocal skills at Camp Mariah when she was young. In fact, she had a photo of herself with Mariah from back then.

The pretty singer has referred to herself as the underdog since she is 28 years old. But, after hearing her sing Natasha Bedingfield’s “Soulmate” in Las Vegas, it’s hard to think of her in that light.

Mariah feels like Tenna is bringing an older style of music en vogue again. As the pop diva Idol judge said, “Something of the tone of your voice reminds of the 1980’s R&B singers. There is no tone like that in the business right now.”

And, despite telling her that her hair is prematurely aging her, Nicki Minaj said Tenna was “naturally giving a beautiful, pure performance.”

Randy Jackson called her “the star of the night.”

At 28, this self-described “sassy young African-American/Puerto Rican” who can deliver “dynamite vocals in killer stilettos” knows who she is as a performer. As she said in her Road to Hollywood interview, “I’m confident in who I am as an artist and ready to show the world.”
