‘AGT’ Winner Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. Arrested for Alleged Domestic Violence
Another day, another reality TV arrest.
America’s Got Talent winner Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. was arrested on Monday, July 10 after he reportedly attacked a woman with a golf club.
The jazz singer was taken into custody at the Southwestern Regional Jail in Whitman, West Virginia around 7:40 p.m., according to the Charleston Gazette-Mail.
He was then booked on a misdemeanor charge of both domestic battery and domestic assault, but was released on a $3,500 bond.
The 42-year-old reportedly got into an argument with his partner over who would take care of their 6-month-old kid inside their West Virginia home.
He then allegedly slapped her and hit her on the face with the golf club.
The Season 6 winner's partner also claimed he slammed her head into a sidewalk, and she was treated for swelling and bruising at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Unfortunately, their child was reportedly present during the fight.
Despite the initial report of abuse, the reality star’s manager claims Landau was the one who was attacked, not the other way around.
According to the musician, the woman supposedly attacked him with a golf club and a knife.
“In defending myself, she obtained some bruises and swelling on her face,” he said in a statement.
“I did not strike her.”
Apparently the argument began after she “trashed the home,” and he revealed this wasn’t the first time she’s destroyed his property.
“I was raised to protect women, and if not provoked and feeling I was in danger, I would never have defended myself in this manner.”
Meanwhile, American Idol alum Haley Reinhart was arrested after she punched a bouncer in the head on Saturday, July 8.
According to TMZ, the cops showed up around 2 a.m. after bouncers tossed the singer and her friends out for knocking over a table.
The 26-year-old was taken into custody and was booked for battery.
Not a good week for reality star singers, that’s for sure!
