Susan Boyle continues to be an unpredictable artist! The 52-year-old Scot — who so famously won over Britain's Got Talent's skeptical judges and audience in 2009 — is shocking us all over again by applying for what seems like a menial job at a online betting company!

People reports that Susan applied for a job as "bookmaker" at Ladbrokes in her hometown of Blackburn, Scotland — a 16 hour/week position that pays $10 an hour.

Ladbrokes says Susan walked in the front door and asked to apply. (The company also points out that all applicants are judged on merit — i.e. they're trying to ignore Susan's celebrity status!)

"We were as shocked as [the Britain's Got Talent judges] when Susan asked about the part-time vacancy," a representative tells the magazine. "She once applied for a job with us before hitting the big time, so it's good to see she's still dreaming the dream of working for Ladbrokes."

"Dreaming the dream," huh? Nice turn of phrase, Ladbrokes — it references the Les Miserables song "I Dream and Dream" Susan sang in her BGT audition, and it makes a minimum-wage sound dreamy!

But don't think that Susan is putting the "broke" in Ladbrokes! Especially as she's on the brink of a UK singing tour, Susan is clearly not wanting for money — she just wants to fill her time and meet people, locals explain.

Hey, whatever makes Susan happy! We would just hate to go up against her at the company karaoke party.
