Ann Ward recently denied speculations of her having an eating disorder, and just chalked her rail-thin body up to a genetically high metabolism. The 6’2 ANTM contestant is rumored to weigh under 100 lbs, and stirred up a lot of controversy in the first episode when Miss Jay successfully enclosed her entire waist in his hands. Tyra immediately spoke out saying Ann wasn’t picked for the show to promote an unhealthy body image, but rather to diversify the definition of beauty, and bring something new to the fashion world. Insert Tyra’s love-your-body spiel here. Ann says of the controversy, "It doesn't really bother me. I know that people will know what I'm about and understand me once the show airs, and they have a chance to learn about me." Admittedly, she does seem too awkward to try very hard at looking model-gorgeous.

Considering her social awkwardness, she brushes off the anorexia claims rather gracefully saying, “I can only say that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. There are many people in this world who have unique features or body types, and it doesn't mean one thing or another automatically. Just get to know a bit about a person before you make conclusions." Sounds like this model is already preaching the good word of Miss Tyra. She claims that her entire family is just as tall as she and that all of them are able to eat whatever they want without gaining any weight. Something tells us, though, that we won’t see any clips of Ann scarfing down a cheeseburger after a long day.

Ann does admit, however, “Seeing people talk about me and stuff has been really hard. It hurts.” Apparently, being a model isn’t as glam as it’s cracked up to be.
