It was almost impossible not to like America’s Next Top Model Cycle 17: All Stars modelstant Laura Kirkpatrick. With her cute, country twang and sweet personality, it was sad to see her eliminated on last night’s episode (“Tyson Beckford”).

We talked to Laura and found out what it was like waiting for two hours while the judges deliberated, and how she really felt about all those “sexy” comments at panel.

Wetpaint Entertainment: What was your initial reaction when you were eliminated?

Laura Kirkpatrick: It was definitely hurtful, you know. When you get so close you definitely start thinking, “Oh I could win this!” or “I am the winner.” To get so close really hurts, but at the same time you’re honored to be in the top 4 All-Stars.

Were you surprised?

I was definitely surprised. I felt like I did really good in the video so I was surprised. And I also had the best photo of the week before, and voted Most Potential to Win, so to go home the very next week, it was pretty devastating.

Do you think the decision was fair?

I think we all did probably equally good and that’s why it made it so hard. I think Lisa did shine out, she did do the best so she did deserve a good photo, but as for us three, I think we all did an equal video or whatever. I think that’s what made it so hard on the judges.

What was it like waiting for the judges for so long?

We were sitting back there thinking, “Oh my Gosh this is like, grueling, because it did take so long,” but at the same time you’re thinking, “What if I go home?” You don’t want it to hurry up because you never know what’s going to send you home or keep you. Maybe if they just thought a little bit longer, I would be on! But everything happens for a reason.

What did you do while waiting? Are you stuck in the room?

Yeah we’re definitely just stuck in one room. I know what I did, I just prayed and prayed and prayed. Every panel you know, you don’t wanna go home but at the same time, when you get that far, when you do go home, it’s not as bad as if you were like, second to go home. You feel like you really stood your ground and showed off.

How long do the judges usually take?

Well I think last night it ended up, it was 2 hours and it took forever but when we’re in there, it seems longer than it is. Usually, [the judges deliberate for] maybe 30 minutes, but when you’re in there and you’ve had a bad week, you definitely feel like it’s hours and hours, it felt like an eternity.

Were you happy with how you were portrayed?

I am definitely, like I know a lot of girls are upset about editing. I’m definitely happy about my editing, I was definitely shown in a good light in everything. The only thing I could say that was bad was maybe I’m a little bit more awesome than they showed. [Laughs]

How was Tyra as a director?

She was definitely a good director. Modelland is her baby, that was her project. She was putting all her time and energy into it. But she knows exactly what she wants for this film, you could tell, she was really stressed about it. But at the same time she was really happy to film it, and she had a blast.

What did you think of the judges’ comments that you were too sexy?

I’ve never felt like, “Oh I’m a sexy girl.” I felt like that was very crazy, and very confusing because girls want to be sexy so to be called that, it’s kinda like, “Oh thank you,” but at the same time they were saying it’s a negative thing so I’m just like, totally confused because I don’t see myself in that kind of way. I definitely see people thinking I’m very cutesie and country girl so to be called that so much is like, “Oh I’m so confused.”
